Steps to obtaining a medical marijuana card in Pennsylvania:

 

STEP 1

Go to the patient and caregiver page of the Department of Health (DOH) Medical Marijuana website and register as directed.

STEP 2

Go to physician page of DOH’s website for a list of approved practitioners by location and area of specialty.

STEP 3

Meet with an approved practitioner for your medical condition and obtain a certification for your medical condition.

STEP 4

Return to the patient and caregiver registry on the DOH website and pay for your medical marijuana ID card.

STEP 5

Upon receipt of your ID Card, visit Keystone Canna Remedies (KCR) for your initial consultation and to determine the right medical marijuana products for you.

Follow these next steps to obtain a background check. Click here. Then scroll down the page to “Approved Physicians” and click the link to “find an approved physician here”

STEP 3

Ensure your patient has a certification from an approved practitioner.

STEP 4

Return to the patient and caregiver registry on the DOH website and pay for your medical marijuana ID card.

STEP 5

Upon receipt of your ID card, visit Keystone Canna Remedies (KCR) for the initial consultation on behalf of your patient and to determine the right medical marijuana products for your patient. 

Qualifying conditions for MMJ

Pennsylvania Act 16 of 2016 defines the current list of qualified conditions for becoming a medical marijuana patient

See below for the full list of the medical marijuana conditions:

  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
  • Anxiety disorders.
  • Autism.
  • Cancer, including remission therapy.
  • Crohn’s disease.
  • Damage to the nervous tissue of the central nervous system (brain-spinal cord) with objective neurological indication of intractable spasticity, and other associated neuropathies.
  • Dyskinetic and spastic movement disorders.
  • Epilepsy.
  • Glaucoma.
  • HIV / AIDS.
  • Huntington’s disease.
  • Inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Intractable seizures.
  • Multiple sclerosis.
  • Neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Neuropathies.
  • Opioid use disorder for which conventional therapeutic interventions are contraindicated or ineffective, or for which adjunctive therapy is indicated in combination with primary therapeutic interventions.
  • Parkinson’s disease.
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Severe chronic or intractable pain of neuropathic origin or severe chronic or intractable pain.
  • Sickle cell anemia.
  • Terminal illness.
  • Tourette syndrome.
